Connecting at Diversity Vendor Fair

Milhouse was among 30 vendors at the Metropolitan Water Reclamation District’s vendor outreach fair held on Oct. 13 at the Gleacher Center of the University of Chicago. What an inspiring day we had meeting contractors, consultants, and potential vendors seeking to learn how to register with the MWRD and secure work opportunities. It was a morning to make connections with area professionals and to share wisdom.

Executive Director David St. Pierce welcomed the 200 contractors and exhibitors. “We run a 1.2 billion gallon a day by volume enterprise in Cook County. We want you to participate with us,” he said.

Barbara McGowan, Vice President of the Board of Commissioners, stressed the importance of the MWRD’s making introductions among skilled contractors.  “We want to be inclusive,” she said. “We’re here to help your grow your business.”

The Metropolitan Water Reclamation District of Greater Chicago covers 883 square miles and provides wholesale waste water treatment for over five million residents in Cook County, Illinois. The District operates seven waste water treatment plants which treat one billion gallons per day. The District also provides regional storm water services.
