Milhouse Named a 2025 Top 500 Design Firm by Engineering News-Record 

Chicago-based engineering and construction firm ranked among the Top 500 Design Firms in the country by prestigious publication. 

CHICAGO, IL (April 24, 2025) – Milhouse Engineering and Construction, Inc. (Milhouse), a leading engineering design firm, is proud to announce that it has been recognized for the fifth consecutive year in Engineering News-Record’s (ENR) annual Top 500 Design Firms list. This year, the firm has moved to number 409, up from its previous position at 417. 

Each year, the ENR Top Design Firms list identifies the most successful design firms in the United States, based on design-specific revenue and industry impact. This is determined through surveys of architects, engineers, general contractors, and program managers.  

Survey results indicate the industry is navigating economic challenges, including rising materials, production, and workforce costs. Newly implemented tariffs and reduced available funding have heightened uncertainty among business owners, who acknowledge the pressing need to adapt to maintain momentum on ongoing projects. However, Milhouse has thrived and experienced growth in profit and production, thanks to its design solutions, client relationships, and operational excellence.

Despite changes during the first half of the year, domestic revenue for the Top 500 Design Firms increased by 7.9%, reaching $126.1 billion, while international revenue rose to $21.7 billion in 2024. Milhouse is positioned for strong revenue growth in the coming year, driven by newly awarded projects in electric vehicles, battery storage, grid resilience, and other advanced technology sectors. Additional business growth initiatives are slated to launch in 2025.
