Milhouse is providing lead engineering design services for the new centralized aircraft deicing facility to supplement the current deicing performed at terminal gates, including:
The design for the centralized deicing facility ramp control tower includes a break room, restrooms and utility rooms. The control tower is a four-story, steel framed structure featuring an observation deck with 8 console stations and one supervisor console station designed to serve airline personnel in charge of their respective deicing operations.
The new centralized deicing facility will accommodate aircraft ranging from four B747-400 and five B767-400 to 16 B737-900 aircraft. The facility consists of dedicated deicing stations for American Airlines, United Airlines as well as additional stations for other airlines including cargo operations.
The facility design will be flexible to allow the development of a future terminal concourse as part of the O’Hare 21 Plan.
