Milhouse Charities

Milhouse Charities is off to a running start this year, volunteering over 550 hours of service since January 1, 2022. First up was our annual Martin Luther King Day of Service with community partner Chi Gives Back; we extended some well-needed support at Tanner Elementary on Chicago’s Southside. The day included remodeling the teachers’ lounge, painting, cleaning, and creating the first-ever school library.

During Engineers Week, we hosted Milhouse’s inaugural “Introduce a Girl to Engineering Day” with Milhouse engineers teaching students about careers in science, technology, engineering and math (STEM).

“The goal is to finish Q1 #milhousestrong. We are on pace to do just that with our Gift of Life Water Well Project FUNdraiser that earned nearly ten thousand dollars in just four days. Proceeds will provide access to clean water for the community of Awhum, Nigeria.”

―Dawn Milhouse, Executive Director, Milhouse Charities

As we transition from the life-changing events over the last two years, we are steadfast in our commitment to making a sustainable impact in the lives of the communities we serve. We’ve participated in so many valuable opportunities this first quarter, including the state competition of MATHCOUNTS (sending four Mathletes to the National competition) and the Future City Illinois Regional Competition (judged essays and live presentations of teams vying to compete Internationally). Currently, we are participating with our partner Project SYNCERE in their annual Empowered Games (panel discussions and judging competitions) and looking forward to finishing #milhousestrong with hosting a job shadow day for 30 girls from our partner organization, Polished Pebbles.
