This 330 MGD Raw Wastewater Pump Station No. 2 (RWWPS 2) Upgrades project rehabilitated the facility for an additional 20 years of service for DC Water. The RWWPS facility was assessed holistically and recommendations were based on information gathered from site visits, field investigations, records review and workshops with DC Water staff. Milhouse provided architectural, civil, mechanical, and electrical design, and construction management services for a study and subsequent design work for the upgrades.
The Milhouse Scope of work included developing plans for:
• A new stormwater sewer and associated structures which service the areas adjacent to the pump station includeing SUE investigations, survey data, and profiles
• An Erosion Control Plan
• Lead and asbestos remediation plans
• Site restoration plans
In addition, Milhouse designed:
• A new roof
• OSHA compliant roof guard rail systems
• Room modifications to accommodate new apparatus and room program changes
• Exterior facade repairs
• New overhead door
• Plumbing systems for new restrooms
• Effluent seal water and cooling water piping systems
• Booster water pumping and piping system
• Four air handling units
• CRAC system the control room
• Air filtration systems and positive pressure ventilation systems to mitigate the effects of hydrogen sulfide
• New boilers and hot water piping and terminal units
• Facility lighting systems including emergency and egress systems
• Facility fire alarm system
