Construction Inclusion at Milhouse

When I founded Milhouse Engineering and Construction Inc. in 2001, I had the vision of creating a place where people would be excited to come to work, a place where team members would feel a sense of community and pride. I envisioned Milhouse as a place that would utilize its diverse culture and exceptional talent to be a positive impact on communities around the world. Today, we know that our diversity and inclusion is what sets us apart. Our differences strengthen our team as we cultivate a group that represents and connects us with the communities we serve. Our differences allow us to thrive creatively while instilling progressive teamwork in our day-to-day tasks. Thanks to our team members, we have seen my vision come to fruition.

It is because of these values that I am so honored to have the opportunity to celebrate Construction Inclusion Week. This is a week to build awareness of the need to improve diversity and inclusion in the construction industry. It’s important that we allow the space and time to foster conversations that lead us on a path to improve our understanding of inclusivity. There are five themes we will focus on throughout the week: commitment and accountability, belonging, supplier diversity, workplace culture, and community engagement. As Milhouse celebrates this week, I have confidence that each leader and team member will strive to embody and explore the themes we are honoring, not just this week, but every single day.

Active diversity and inclusion require consistent commitment to understanding. There is always more to learn, and I look forward to utilizing this week as a way to strengthen the active diversity and culture here at Milhouse.

Sincerely,

Wilbur C. Milhouse III
