Michael Melvin is the Vice President of Power for Milhouse Engineering and Construction, Inc., where he leads multidisciplinary teams that deliver high-quality Distribution, Substation, and Telecom solutions for complex utility and infrastructure projects. He oversees the full lifecycle of distribution engineering, from early‑phase scoping and estimating to permitting and detailed design. He ensures technical excellence, operational efficiency, and a consistent commitment to safety and quality across all service lines.
With 19 years of experience in the electric utility industry, Michael has led transformational initiatives across Transmission and Distribution operations and engineering. His expertise spans control center operations, power delivery, Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI), Energy Management Systems (EMS), Outage Management Systems (OMS), Governance, Risk & Compliance (GRC) tools, communication systems, Remote Terminal Units (RTU), and both FERC and NERC compliance disciplines.
Michael holds an Executive MBA from the University of Notre Dame, as well as a Master of Science in Engineering and a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from Purdue University Calumet.
He is an active leader in the engineering community, serving on the boards of the Challenger Learning Center, the Indiana Society of Professional Engineers, and the IEEE Calumet Section. He is also a member of the Industry Advisory Committee for Purdue University Northwest and the Project Management Institute’s Calumet and Chicagoland Chapters. In addition, he serves as a chapter coordinator for MATHCOUNTS and teaches part‑time at Purdue University Northwest and Ivy Tech Community College.
Outside of work, Michael enjoys spending time with his wife and children.
