Dawn Milhouse Awarded Lifetime Achievement Award by the Office of the 46th President of the United States on behalf of Americorps, Points of Light, and Christ Is First Foundation

Cofounder of Milhouse Charities recognized by the White House for commitment to volunteer service

CHICAGO, IL (March 13, 2024) – Milhouse Engineering and Construction, Inc. (Milhouse) is proud to announce that Dawn Milhouse, Executive Director and cofounder of Milhouse Charities, the 501c3 non-profit heart of the Milhouse Family of Companies, has been recognized with the prestigious Presidential Lifetime Achievement Award. This award celebrates individuals committed to building a stronger nation through volunteer service. Dawn was given this honor for dedicating over 4,000 hours of volunteer service in Chicago and communities across the country.

Dawn has over three decades of experience in community engagement, non-profit event management, hospitality, brand management, and marketing. Her visionary leadership has advanced Milhouse Charities as a leader in corporate stewardship with a concentration on creating equitable opportunities for underrepresented minority youth and women in science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM).

Under Dawn’s strategic guidance, Milhouse Charities has made substantial contributions to the community, investing one million dollars in STEM education programs ranging from elementary to university-level and organizations like Project SYNCERE, Girls 4 Science, and Aerostar Aviation,. Since 2012, Milhouse Charities has participated in over 13,000 hours of hands-on volunteer community service and provided essential resources such as shoes and clean water to communities locally and abroad.

The President’s Council on Service and Civic Participation began recognizing the President’s Volunteer Service Award (PVSA) in 2003 to recognize the critical role of volunteers in America’s strength and national identity. The PVSA has continued under each administration, honoring individuals whose service positively impacts communities in every corner of the nation and inspires those around them to take action, too.

Reflecting on this recognition, Dawn emphasizes the importance of unity and collective action. “Receiving the President’s Lifetime Achievement Award is a humbling acknowledgment of the transformative power of collaboration, community, and commitment to leveling the opportunity field for an equitable future for black and brown students in STEM. May this moment be an inspiration to the boundless possibilities that happen when individuals come together to invest in our communities and our future.”

At Milhouse, we are committed to making a positive impact in the communities we serve and are immensely proud of Dawn and honored to have her leadership guiding our charitable efforts.
