Lake Central Teen Collects 100+ Soccer Shoes for Children in Nigeria!
Maxwell (Max) Hill, a recent graduate of Lake Central High School, spent his senior year taking action for a great cause. When Max heard about the Milhouse and Milhouse Charities Annual Soccer Shoe Drive, contributing soccer shoes and gear to children in Nigeria, he felt an urge to get involved. In response, he decided to launch Africleats, a fundraiser collecting soccer shoes with fellow students and individuals within his own community.
“You know these kids have the same passion for soccer as me, if not more,’” said Max. “They were out there in less gear than I had at my disposal, so I wanted to get them what I had.” Max collected over 100 pairs of soccer shoes and personally delivered them to Milhouse Engineering & Construction, Inc. President/CEO, Wilbur C. Milhouse III.
“I was extremely excited to know that what our team initiated inspired someone else, a high schooler at that, to want to give back in a similar way,” said Wilbur. “Max’s efforts are inspiring to me. It shows that regardless of your age anyone can utilize their resources to give back for the greater good and impact lives half way around the world.”
All of the soccer shoes and gear are being donated to the youth of the Awhum community in Nsukka, Nigeria. Be on the lookout for more information on the 2018 Annual Soccer Shoe Drive. Click here for more information on Milhouse Charities to see how you can be a positive impact as well!
