Milhouse Snow LLC – Taking Care of Business on the South Shore!

Milhouse Snow LLC welcomes their newest client, The South Shore Chamber of Commerce, proud service provider of SSA #42. Special Service Areas, also known as Business Improvement Districts, are local tax districts that fund expanded services and programs through a localized property tax levy within contiguous areas. Their goal is to create a safer and more attractive commercial environment for consumers, residents and business owners by removing snow, installing planters, placing trash receptacles, banners and holiday decorations to help create a more vibrant community. These enhanced services are in addition to those currently provided through the city.

Special Service Area #42 is the result of a combined effort by 5th ward Alderman Leslie A. Hairston and South Shore Chamber Economic Development, Inc.

Special Service Area #42 Boundaries:

  • 71st from Kimbark Ave. to South Shore Drive
  • Stony Island 67th to 73rd on the Eastside
  • Stony Island 67th to 79th on the Westside

Milhouse Snow, LLC received an urgent request from the Chamber, prior to the first major snowstorm in January. Considering the size and complexity of the service area, it was a huge logistical challenge to deploy the necessary team members and equipment since many were already committed to serving other clients throughout the storm.

Defeating the snowstorm and proud of a job well done!

The Milhouse Snow team came through, receiving high praise for a job well done, from the Executive Director of the South Shore Chamber of Commerce. “You guys are rock stars!  The logistical challenge to pull off a job of that size within 24 hours was no small feat.  You were beyond professional.  I drove the district this afternoon and all looks well.  There were a few spots that your team missed, or it may have been from drifting snow, but the priority area along 71st street was done. I cannot thank you enough. You know, in Chicago, people lose their jobs over snow removal. Thanks for all your help.”
