11218 S. State Street Improvement

Challenge: Expediting a standard distribution replacement project to improve the system of the surrounding area to minimize ongoing leaks.

Solution: Full Final Review Drawings were developed within two days of notice to proceed.

Result: Approved for construction drawings with an OUC permit in 2 months from initial project assignment.

Milhouse used experience from past emergency projects to coordinate survey and initial plan creation in an expedited timeframe. Team flexibility helped adjust critical project workloads while maintaining other project schedules and deliverables. Milhouse was able to be on-site within a moment’s notice.

This project involved installing 1200’ of 2” and 4” Plastic Medium Pressure Gas Main along S. Michigan Ave. from E. 113th St. to E. 114th Pl. This project was a critical back feed to the system due to a nearby leaking 24” Cast Iron Medium Pressure Gas Main one block west on S. State St. Milhouse was able to coordinate the survey and develop final review drawings as the survey data came in, resulting in a two-day turnaround of a drawing package ready for a line of the lay walk and PGL review.

The project scope also included ten stages of site-specific traffic control. This project also received OUC approval in 20 days, with Milhouse turning around any comments necessary for permit approval as soon as possible.
