The A.N. Pritzker Elementary School commissioned this project to modernize and replace its existing mechanical systems. Milhouse provided mechanical, electrical, and architectural design services for this Chicago Public Schools (CPS) project.
Work included the replacement of lighting throughout all classrooms and office areas; modernization of the school’s fire alarm and communications systems; and the addition of a new fuel-fired generator to provide emergency power to critical life-safety equipment.
The mechanical upgrades included the installation of a controls system that provides detailed monitoring and control of the building’s new and existing mechanical systems. The project also required that the building’s existing facilities be reworked to comply with ADA requirements for accessible restrooms, auditorium seating, and door openers. New flooring and paint were also added to improve the aesthetics of classrooms and administrative offices.
