DFW International Airport Taxiway M South Rehabilitation

Dallas Forth Worth International Airport (DFW) Taxiway M provides critical taxiing capacity for runways 17C-35C and 17R-37L and supports DFW’s global operations.

A pavement evaluation study conducted in 2017 determined that the conditions of Taxiway M required a PCC panel replacement and taxiway shoulder replacement. In addition, the taxiway was operating with aged incandescent lighting systems that were nearing their end.

As part of the rehabilitation of Taxiway M, Milhouse was responsible for the design of the following:

  • Taxiway edge light
  • Taxiway centerline
  • Runway guard lights
  • Airfield improvements associated with the pavement improvements

The airfield lighting design required utility coordination to verify existing utilities, and for relocation of a main distribution duct bank system for home-run airfield lighting cables. Milhouse also assisted with airfield electrical construction phasing and attended construction progress meetings.

  • The Milhouse team also:
  • Reviewed shop drawings and RFIs for the design scope
  • Assisted with airfield electrical construction phasing and reviews of other design items
  • Prepared bulletins for field changes
  • Attended construction progress meetings
