Ramp 20 Rehabilitation

Challenge: Reconstruct aircraft aprons with minimal impacts and disruptions to airport operations.

Solution: An experienced design and planning team that effectively communicates and coordinates with several stakeholders.

Result: A new 58,000 sq. f t. apron designed on time and under budget.

Ramp 20 is located in the north airfield of Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport and is adjacent to the Delta Midfield Support Facility. Ramp 20 is used as a parking ramp during summer and as a deicing location in winter. This apron can provide up to five parking positions for Group V aircraft and up to ten Group III aircraft parking positions.

The pavement replacement design consisted of rehabilitating approximately 58,000 square yards of apron pavement on the North Deicing Facility Ramp. Milhouse’s scope of work included a demolition design plan and details, pavement marking design, and the development of a pavement elevation plan. The design included coordinating with airlines to accommodate various aircraft for parking in both deicing and nondeicing conditions. In addition to design drawings, Milhouse provided construction specifications, quantities, and construction administration services.
