Email x v

Creating lasting value requires looking at the bigger picture.

At Milhouse, that means understanding our clients, the infrastructure they manage, and the communities that depend on it. It means looking beyond the immediate project to make thoughtful decisions, solve the right problems, and deliver solutions that create a positive impact for decades to come.

In this issue, we share perspectives on some of the challenges and opportunities shaping infrastructure today and what leaders should be thinking about as they plan for what comes next.

WSSC Water’s Piscataway Water Resource Recovery Facility Bioenergy Project

Award-Winning Infrastructure Creates Value from Waste

WSSC Water’s Piscataway Water Resource Recovery Facility Bioenergy Project is transforming biosolid waste into functional Class A biosolids and renewable natural gas while reducing operational waste, energy use, and environmental impact.

As a subcontractor to PC Construction, Milhouse designed the underground natural gas and renewable natural gas lines, including the connection to the Washington Gas system, as well as the facility’s fire protection sprinkler systems.

The project has earned eight national and regional honors for sustainability, design, construction craftsmanship, project excellence, and safety. These recognitions demonstrate what innovative infrastructure and strong project partnerships can accomplish.

awards

Milhouse has earned three recognitions in Building Design+Construction’s 2026 Giants 400 Report, ranking among the nation’s leading Engineering Architecture firms, Top 90 K-12 School Engineering Firms, and Top 75 Sports Facility Engineering Firms.

Our facilities work is about making buildings better. Whether we are improving an existing facility or helping bring a new one to life, quality engineering can make a meaningful difference in how a building performs and how people experience it.

These recognitions reflect the exceptional work our teams are doing to create a positive impact, one building at a time.

As Milhouse Charities enters its 14th year of service, Executive Director Dr. Dawn Milhouse shared these words:

“Generational impact remains long after the work is finished and the crews are gone. Milhouse Charities continues the work it was founded to do in 2012: creating a positive impact through access, STEM education, opportunity, hands-on service in the field, and meaningful investment in the communities we serve. We believe legacy lives not in what we leave behind, but in what continues to move forward through people, families, and future generations. That is Purpose in Motion. This is year 14.“

interns

Developing the next generation of AEC talent means giving emerging professionals opportunities to learn beyond the classroom and experience the industry firsthand.

Throughout the summer, Milhouse interns gained hands-on experience, connected with industry leaders, and saw infrastructure in action through visits to O’Hare International Airport, the Metropolitan Water Reclamation District of Greater Chicago, and active project sites.

By investing in practical experience, mentorship, and exposure to the many career paths within AEC, we’re helping prepare the next generation to shape the infrastructure and communities of the future.
