Based in Collinsville, Illinois, Ameren Illinois is a regulated electric and gas delivery company in the business of energy distribution. Ameren’s parent company, the Ameren Corporation, is based in St. Louis, Missouri. Ameren Illinois’s service area spans 43,700 square miles, approximately three-quarters of the state.
Every day, Ameren delivers to its 806,000 natural gas customers in more than 1,2000 communities throughout central and southern Illinois. The Ameren complex delivery includes approximately 45,400 miles of distribution pipeline; 18,000 miles of natural gas transmission and distribution main; and 12 underground natural gas storage fields.
Milhouse began working with Ameren in 2015 to provide engineering design of an approximately 800-linear-foot (LF) horizontal directional drilling (HDD) design to replace an exposed 12-inch steel gas transmission line south of U.S. Route 24 near Mt. Sterling, Illinois.
Milhouse’s scope on this project includes:
• Preparing HDD plan and profile
• Piping and mechanical layout
• Drawings and details
• Engineering cost estimates
• Hydrotest calculations
• Construction site maintenance, including a four-inch bypass line
