Mahomet 30in Weld Cut

Challenge: An anomaly was found during an inspection of a 30” pipeline under creek.

Solution: To replace a section of the pipeline to meet federal guidelines.

Result: Increased safety and performance of major pipelines within the system.

Milhouse designed plans to replace a section of a damaged 30” pipeline as found during an inline inspection of PGL’s Mohamet #1 Line with an MAOP of 850 psi near Piper City, IL.

Milhouse reviewed existing records and created a plan and profile view of the pipeline, including the location of girth welds and other pipeline features. Due to the anomaly’s location directly under a stream with high water levels in the spring, Milhouse needed to coordinate with an environmental consultant to ensure pipeline replacement minimized impact. Also, due to its location within a creek, Milhouse needed to design plans to open-cut within a steep (over 45 degrees) slope.
