Challenge: Multiple design and construction packages that need to be coordinated on schedule to reach the target opening date.
Solution: Efficient coordination between owner, multiple prime contractors, and subcontractors, including Milhouse, to ensure all design packages are coordinated.
Result: Efficient, on-time delivery of design to stay on schedule for full replacement of the existing AirTrain with a state-of-the-art new system. Project is currently in progress.
Milhouse performed plumbing and fire protection base building design services for the Maintenance Control Facility and three passenger terminal bridge connectors. The Maintenance Control Facility will provide for the inspection, service, testing, repair, and storage of the AirTrain vehicles and other system and facility equipment.
The project has been successful thanks to exceptional coordination between the client, the prime, and the design team to deliver packages that seamlessly coordinate with other pieces of the AirTrain being worked on by another team. Plumbing and fire protection systems will service customized spaces like a welding area, rain water harvesting equipment, and a paint booth. The team has effectively coordinated multiple separate design and construction projects required for the full AirTrain buildout.
