Streetscape 71st Street South Shore to Jeffery

Challenge: The primary challenge of this project was the limited space to work between the existing median and the edge of the pavement, which caused parking problems and was a concern for public safety during construction and overnight.

Solution: Construction was completed in stages.

Result: Constructing the project in stages allows us not to have much of an impact on public safety, residents, and the businesses in the area.

Milhouse’s scope of work consisted of upgrading the streetscape and roadway condition with activities such as full-depth pavement patching, structure adjustment, resurfacing, installation of colored brick paver crosswalks, installation of new bike lanes, installation of concrete bus pads, upgrading ADA ramps to comply with the latest construction federal requirements, and installation of an architectural fence in the median of E. 71St Street.
