WMATA Platform Rehabilitation Program

Challenge: The compressed schedule required that each construction phase be completed within a 4-month window.

Solution: To ensure all tasks met client expectations, the team created and implemented tools with quantifiable, repeatable processes to generate, manage, and report all tasks, issues, and observations on the project.

Result: The project team successfully provided real-time status updates on many topics simultaneously providing the client with valuable, current information used by their executive team to make critical decisions.

All four phases of the program were successfully opened on schedule. As there would already be an impact on customers, WMATA seized this opportunity to conduct additional station, roadway, and bridge enhancements to improve operations and structural, architectural, safety, and security systems.

Milhouse provided subject matter experts (SMEs) in fire alarms, access controls, intrusion detection, and construction management. Milhouse team members were recognized for outstanding work by WMATA. Our resident engineer (an SME in interagency coordination and rail service adjustments) was quickly promoted to Deputy Construction Manager for exceptional work.
