The Chicago Department of Transportation (CDOT) requested Phase III construction engineering services for Arterial Street Resurfacing and the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990 (ADA) ramp program.
Milhouse collaborated with CDOT to provide construction management and inspection services in the Central Area of Chicago.
These services included hot-mix asphalt removal and resurfacing, concrete or asphalt patches, adjustment utility structures, placement of new pavement marking, reconstruction of ADA-compliant ramps, and concrete placement for bus pads. Also involves the removal and replacement of curb/gutter and sidewalk, installation of regulatory signage, and traffic control and protection.
The Resident Engineer ensures compliance with the ADA, CDOT, and the Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) regulations and standards. Additional services provided by the Resident Engineer
include attending and maintaining records of the meetings, interpreting drawings and specifications, resolving design and field issues, validating and managing change orders, monitoring the contractor’s progress schedule, and coordinating and verifying the testing of materials and material certifications.
