Cory White and Shane Jefferies Named ‘2023 Top Young Professionals’ by Engineering News Record Midwest

Members of Milhouse Engineering and Construction Inc. leadership team recognized as top AEC industry professionals in the region

CHICAGO, IL (October 24, 2022) – Engineering News Record (ENR) Midwest names two executives from Milhouse Engineering and Construction, Inc. (Milhouse) to its list of 2023 Top Young Professionals. These 20 individuals are under the age of 40 and were chosen because of their talent, leadership, and service in the Architecture, Engineering and Construction industries. Cory White and Shane Jefferies were both named and will move forward for consideration in the national round of judging to determine ENR’s 2023 Top 20 Under 40.

Cory White is Chief Legal Officer of Milhouse and its subsidiaries. With 13 years of experience as a transactional attorney, Cory has worked on corporate transactions across a variety of industries and served on various boards of directors. In 2020, he joined Milhouse as Corporate Counsel and transitioned into his current role as Chief Legal Office earlier this year. In this role, Cory directs and oversees the Legal Department, which is comprised of three branches: legal services, safety compliance, and training. Cory has always been intertwined in the local legal community, having formerly served on the Board of Governors of the Illinois State Bar Association, and currently on the Board of Directors of the Illinois Institute of Continuing Legal Education and the Illinois Bar Foundation.  Additionally, Cory teaches securities regulation at the Chicago Kent College of Law as an adjunct professor and has published several works in the legal field concerning corporate governance, contract theory, and securities regulation. He shares, “I owe this honor to the people who have helped me achieve my goals and to an amazing team of professionals who leave it on the field every day.” 

Shane Jefferies is Director of Information Technology at Milhouse and its subsidiaries. As the leader of the Information Technology (IT) team, Shane oversees all IT operations and devises IT policies and systems to best effectively support the strategies set by executive management. He balances the requirements of the profit centers at Milhouse to ensure exceptional and secure service to clients. With nine years of industry experience, Shane prioritizes three major strategic areas for Milhouse: scaling technological infrastructure, business operational transformation, and cyber security. Additionally, he is the IT Committee chairman on the American Council for Engineering Companies of Illinois and at the national level he serves on the Risk Management and Information Technology committees. “Technology will never replace the great problem solvers I work with, but technology in the hands of great problem solvers is transformational,” Shane stated. “I am thankful and honored I have the opportunity to advance this transformation every day!”

Cory and Shane are both heavily involved in philanthropic work in their local communities. Cory serves as counsel to Milhouse Charities, a 501c3 non-profit dedicated to the exposure and advancement of underrepresented youth in science, technology, engineering and math (STEM). Cory also serves on the Illinois Bar Foundation, which promotes access to justice throughout the state of Illinois. Shane is active in multiple organizations that uplift youth, including: Milhouse Charities, I.C.stars, a program that assists in creating economic opportunities in the tech sector for underserved communities, and Math Counts Illinois, an organization that provides math programs to middle school students to build confidence.
