McClellan Elementary School is a 60,000 sq. ft., four-story school that houses Pre-K through 8th-grade students. This renovation focused on accessibility improvements and program operation consolidations.
The building was provided with a new elevator, and an associated lobby was created via a small building addition. Select restrooms were renovated to become ADA-compliant, and a new art room on the 2nd floor was designed from a converted former classroom.
Several storage and general-use spaces in the basement were converted into a hybrid cooking kitchen and two adjacent cafeteria spaces. A new make-up air unit and exhaust fan were added to serve the kitchen.
The team reduced the number of lunch periods by creating rooms that could accommodate more tables and students simultaneously.
Renovated spaces were provided with new energy-compliant LED lighting. The building’s fire-sprinkler system coverage was adjusted to meet new space and programming classifications.
The project was executed in Revit software using Revit360 and Bluebeam real-time coordination technology.
