Challenge: Reconstruct utilities for the new Terminal 6 in a cost-effectivemeans while providing minimal disruptions to aircraft operations.
Solution: Milhouse worked with AECOM Hunt and other parties to provide design services that met the challenge.
Milhouse provided engineering design services (water, sanitary, and glycol collection) for the reconstruction of a new terminal apron, associated with the construction of the new terminal facility at JFK Airport. The Milhouse Team designed more than 4,000 feet of new water main, 1,300 feet of new deicing (glycol collection) system, including a new glycol lift station, and 600 feet of new sanitary improvements.
The project required coordination with other design teams such as airport planning, drainage design, terminal design, as well as coordination with the Port Authority of New York New Jersey. Water, sanitary, and deicing design was developed to accommodate other facility improvements, apron reconstruction, new terminal facilities, and to the construction schedule and phasing while minimizing disruptions
to operations.
